The Contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, and poet, Christy Nockels is a well-known figure in the music industry. The American singer-songwriter has also been the lead member of Watermark. Watermark was a Contemporary Christian singing duo composed of Christy Nockels and her husband, Nathan Nockels. Besides her music career, Christy Nockels has also been a Worship Leader for over twenty-five years.
Music can usher people into the presence of God in a miraculous way. Christy believes that music has the power to connect people with the Almighty. Her goal is to connect people with God through the power of music. Christy’s work in the Contemporary Christian music scene has earned her the love and respect of millions.
Early Life
Although Christy was born in Forth Worth, Texas, she grew up in Oklahoma. Music and worship had a huge impact on her childhood. At the tender age of seven, Christy started performing in her country church. This was the beginning of a life-long love of worshipping God and sharing stories through music. Soon after, Christy was leading worship corporately and started gaining recognition for her talents.
Music Career
It was in 1993 that Christy met her to-be husband, Nathan Nockels. They met during the Christian Artists Seminar in EstesPark, Colorado. Eventually, they got married in 1995. Soon, they started serving as worship leaders in their church in Oklahoma City. Combining their talents, both Christy and Nathan wrote songs, and also released an album called “Holy Roar” in 1996. Their album was released under the title “Sons & Daughters”. During this period, Rocketown Records approached the Contemporary Christian music duo and signed a contract under the name “Watermark”.
Worship & Music
During their time with Rocketown Records as Watermark, the duo released five albums. They received several awards and nominations for their work including Dove Award nominations. However, in 2006, both Christy and Nathan Nockels decided to retire from Watermark and serve in other areas of ministry.
Soon after, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and became founding members of “Passion City Church”. Later on, Christy signed up with sixstepsrecords and released her first ever solo album titled “Life Light Up” in 2009. This was followed by her second solo album “Into The Glorious” in 2012. As of now, Christy is the co-owner of Keeper’s Branch Records, along with her husband Nathan. She continues to create worship music on their independent music label.
