Hillsong Worship is a name that needs no introduction. The church has been producing worship hits since the 90s. Following the success of What a Beautiful Name, which earned them their first Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music, they blessed us with yet another strong congressional anthem, Who you Say I Am. The song was written by worship pastors Reuben Morgan and Ben Fielding – the former also acts as the lead male singer. It was nominated for Top Christian Song at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards and won at GMA Dove Awards as the Worship Song of the Year.

Generally, Who You Say I Am is a pretty incredible song. However, it’s the chorus and bridge that really drive the point home. In four short but rich lines based on John 8, this song reminds us that when we know the truth, the truth shall set us free. It is a powerful declaration of what God has declared about us. Who you Say I Am pays tribute to our new identity in Christ as children of God. For Christ suffered for our sins, that he might bring us into the family of God. We are who God says we are.
